Counselling for strong Mental Health
Counselling is the therapeutic process of helping clients manage their problems in living more effectively and develop unused or underused opportunities more fully. Many clients become clients because, either in their own eyes or in the eyes of others, they are involved in problem situations that they are not handling well. Others come because they feel they are not living life as fully as they would like.
Each session with Joanne is tailored to meet the client’s personal therapeutic needs. Joanne incorporates many contemporary models of counselling into her practice, including and not limited to cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Emotional Freedom techniques, to help clients reduce anxiety and stress in a relatively short period of time.
Joanne uses personality assessments and profiling for greater insight and understanding for clients as an additional tool for overall awareness of self and others.
Testimonials
After meeting Joanne at our initial consultation, I instantly knew I had taken a positive step forward. Since then, working with Joanne on a regular basis, I have experienced personal growth that I never would have thought possible. I have been able to see a change in myself, in the way I interact with others and in my professional career. Joanne has opened my eyes to new ways of looking at and dealing with situations and has equipped me with the tools to be able to continue on my growth journey. Joanne has a great depth of knowledge and skills and I am thankful that I am able to be coached and mentored by her.
I am a pretty self reliant person and I had often just “slogged it out” in the past to fix my problems. This was effective in the short term, but I made a decision to seek some counselling after a very difficult time in my personal and work life. Joanne helped me to get a better balance back into my life. It took some work from my end to really get the most out of it, and it was not a quick fix or recipe to follow. But Joanne was there with me and guided me to see how my expectations and behaviour affects my own life, and the people close to me. It helped me better understand myself, how I respond to things and what I want from life. It was not a judgemental process in any way. There is no right or wrong answer in some of life’s complicated problems. However, Joanne did help me figure out for myself what is and is not reasonable to expect. I also learned some good techniques to help me “step back” a moment and better respond to the challenges life throws up. Joanne has brought me through a difficult time and now I have new and constructive techniques that I use every day to keep myself on track to where I want to be. I should have sought such wonderful help many years ago.
